The US President-elect Joe Biden’s team confirmed that he will sign a package of decisions on his first day as a president, that reverse his predecessor’s orders.
Before the official announcement, members of Biden’s team told “AFP” that Biden has made up his mind to take 17 executive orders to break from the policies of outgoing President Donald Trump.
The outgoing president will not meet Biden or even attend the swearing-in ceremony as usual in the handover of power. Instead, Trump intends to travel to Florida.
Later today, Biden will take the oath as the new US president. Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris is to be sworn in alongside him in Washington DC, which has been fortified amid fears of civil unrest.
