Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman held telephone calls with leaders of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to check on the safety of their countries and peoples amid rising regional tensions, state media said.
During the calls, the sultan condemned the military escalation and warned of its serious risks following Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iran, cautioning against repercussions for regional security and stability.
He stressed the need to respect state sovereignty and territorial integrity, exercise restraint, halt escalation immediately and return to dialogue and diplomacy.
Gulf leaders, in turn, voiced appreciation for Oman’s balanced approach and its role in promoting peace, dialogue and bridging differences across the region.
