The National Center for Statistics and Information in Oman has reported a 0.7% increase in the country's inflation rate for June 2024 compared to the same month in 2023.
According to data from the Oman News Agency, the prices of various categories have seen notable increases: food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 3.8%, miscellaneous goods and services by 3.3%, health by 2.4%, culture and recreation by 0.5%, restaurants and hotels by 0.4%, tobacco by 0.2%, and clothing and footwear by 0.1%.
Conversely, the prices of transportation decreased by 2%, education by 0.4%, furniture, household equipment, and routine household maintenance by 0.2%, and communications by 0.1%. Prices in the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels category remained stable.
Within the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, vegetables saw a significant price increase of 13.3%, fruits by 7.3%, milk, cheese, and eggs by 4.1%, fish and seafood by 3.4%, meat by 2%, and sugar, jam, honey, and confectionery also by 2%. Additionally, food products rose by 1.6%, oils and fats by 1.5%, non-alcoholic beverages by 0.9%, and bread and cereals by 0.5%.
Among the regions, Al Wusta Governorate recorded the highest inflation rate increase of 1.8% by the end of June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Musandam Governorate saw a 1.6% increase, while North Al Sharqiyah Governorate experienced a 1.5% rise.
