Oman's Embassy in Egypt Celebrates Palestine On Occasion of World Arabic Language Day

The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Cairo organized a celebration on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day.

The celebration was kicked off by the Omani Ambassador in Cairo Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi and attended by ambassadors, public figures, and artists.

Al Rahbi welcomed the attendees and stressed that the cultural activity of the embassy is keen to celebrate Arabic Language Day annually.

"This year coincides with the events in Gaza, the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, and the massacres to which our brothers are exposed," he noted.

Al Rahbi added that the celebration affirms solidarity with the Palestinian people.

For his part, artist Fawzi Morsi, supervisor of the art exhibition held within the framework of the celebration, pointed out that the exhibition reflects the support of the world’s artists in their solidarity with the Palestinian people.

He added the exhibition included 50 works by artists from 18 countries that expressed the struggle and suffering of the Palestinians against the ongoing Israeli aggression.

The celebration also commemorated the late Ahmed Omar Mukhtar, the pioneer of lexical work.

For his part, Sherif Gad, the Secretary-General of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association, stressed the importance of the celebration and solidarity with the Palestinian people in the ordeal.

Gad extended his thanks to the Embassy for the initiative and the Egyptian Cartoon Society, hailing the organization's communication with world artists in a showcase that the solidarity with the Palestinian people against Israeli aggression is not only by Arabs but felt by the entire world and rejected Israeli barbarism.

Dr. Abdel Hamid Madkour, Secretary General of the Arabic Language Academy, also spoke about the role of the Academy in preserving the Arabic language.

The celebration concluded with a poetry evening for the works of Amal Dunqul, Mahmoud Darwish, and Tawfiq Ziad, recited by poets Ihab Al-Bashbishi and Mamdouh Al-Sheikh.
