Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman has arrived in Moscow for a high-level state visit, underscoring the growing partnership between Oman and Russia.

The visit comes as the two nations celebrate the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.

The sultan’s aircraft landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo-2 airport, where he was greeted by top Russian officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, and Omani Ambassador Hamoud bin Salem Al Tuwaih.

The sultan is accompanied by a large delegation of senior Omani officials.

This visit is expected to result in the signing of ten key agreements aimed at boosting cooperation across various sectors. Among the anticipated outcomes is a bilateral agreement to abolish visa requirements for holders of regular passports.

A protocol for the creation of a joint commission for trade, economic, and technical cooperation is also on the agenda.

Sultan Haitham is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 22. Discussions between the two leaders will center on enhancing economic, trade, energy, and investment ties, as well as addressing pressing regional and global issues.

According to the Kremlin, the talks will place particular emphasis on expanding cooperation in key sectors such as finance, culture, and technology.
