Oman stressed the importance of balanced and responsible media messaging during an extraordinary meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council held via videoconference to discuss rapidly evolving regional developments and strengthen Gulf media coordination.

Oman’s Minister of Information Abdullah bin Nasser Al‑Harrasi said media messaging carries heightened importance at this sensitive stage, calling for a discourse grounded in wisdom, moderation and responsibility that reinforces stability and public awareness across GCC societies.

Al-Harrasi added that Oman’s diplomatic efforts, supported by fellow Gulf states, were driven by a sincere commitment to spare the region the consequences of conflict. However, he said the destructive war currently affecting several countries in and beyond the Gulf increases the responsibility of media outlets to promote calm and stability.

The meeting was chaired by Bahrain’s Minister of Information Ramzan Abdullah Al‑Noaimi, who praised mediation efforts led by Haitham bin Tariq to bridge differences between the United States and Iran.

Participants also discussed strengthening cooperation among official media institutions and intensifying efforts to counter misinformation and disinformation campaigns.
