Oman participated in the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
The delegation was led by Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information.
The meeting focused heavily on the Palestinian issue amid ongoing political and humanitarian developments in Gaza and discussions on the role of Arab media in supporting international efforts backing the Palestinian people.
Ministers also reviewed key media frameworks, including activation of the Arab Media Honor Charter, progress on the Arab Media Action Plan, the phased media strategy to combat terrorism, and the Arab Media Map for Sustainable Development 2030. The agenda further included the Arab strategy for media and information literacy, environmental media plans, and engagement with major international media companies.
Participants also addressed organizational matters such as forming the Executive Bureau and selecting the 2026 Arab Media Capital.
During the session, officials announced the ninth Arab Media Excellence Award ceremony, themed “Youth and New Media,” featuring 150 entries from 13 Arab countries.
