Oman Records 62 New Coronavirus Cases

The Ministry of Health in Oman on Saturday recorded 26 new coronavirus cases during the last twenty-four hours.

"This upped the total number of infected cases to 546," the ministry said in a statement.

On Wednesday, April 8, Oman’s Authorities imposed a twelve-day full lockdown on Muscat governorate starting from April 10 till April 22 due to coronavirus.

"Since the spread of the virus in Oman, the country has recorded three deaths," it added.

"Up to 109 cases have recovered so far," the health ministry added.

The ministry urged all the citizens in Oman to avoid gathering, stick to lockdown and social distancing to combat the COVID-19.

More than 100,000 people have died so far worldwide because of the coronavirus pandemic, and 1710148 people have been infected with the COVID-19 as the cases continue to rise around the world.

Several Arab countries have tightened restrictions on movement and travel, with the aim of curbing the spread of the Coronavirus, and some have pledged billions of dollars in economic stimulus programs to reduce the economic repercussions of the crisis.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a global pandemic as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease COVID-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

People across the globe partake in self-isolation for 14 days as an effective precautionary measure to protect those around them and themselves from contracting COVID-19.
