Oman participated in the 29th session of the Arab Council of Ministers of Communications and Information, held in Cairo, with its delegation headed by Ambassador Abdullah bin Nasser Al Rahbi, officials said.
Al Rahbi, Oman’s ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative to the Arab League, represented Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology Saeed bin Hamoud Al Maawali at the meeting. In his address, he underscored the importance of enhancing joint Arab cooperation, particularly in cybersecurity, amid rising global cyber threats targeting digital infrastructure and information security.
He outlined Oman’s progress in communications and information technology, including broadband and fiber-optic expansion, digital government services, data governance, and investment in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The meeting reviewed key regional digital challenges and approved the creation of an Arab committee on artificial intelligence to help coordinate efforts across the region.
