On Monday, the Omani Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Bin Mohamed El Saadi said that Oman is doing extensive research as there are 4 COVID-19 cases who could be infected with the newly-discovered COVID-19 strain.
He explained to Oman News Agency that the state is now studying the genetic map of the virus and the results will be announced to the public, pointing out that the viruses including COVID-19 are mutating rapidly and COVID-19 has more than 4000 mutated forms.

In the same context, it is not confirmed whether the mutated virus is more fierce than the previous one or not, the minister highlighted.
Furthermore, El Saadi revealed that the state will receive 15600 COVID-19 vaccine doses on Thursday, and another 28 thousand doses in January.
The country managed to reserve 10 percent of its needs of COVID-19 vaccines, according to the minister.
Oman will start a wide vaccination campaign on Sunday using Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The first vaccination campaign will include medical sector workers, and chronic conditions cases.
It is worthy to mention that Oman announced a travel-ban to or from Britain on Monday.
