Olympian Suni Lee revealed that she was pepper-sprayed in a racist attack after the Olympic games.
Lee told PopSugar in a profile published Wednesday that she and her friends, who are all of Asian descent, were waiting for an Uber after she returned from the Tokyo Olympics a few months ago when a car sped by them shouting racial slurs like “ching chong” and telling them to “go back to where they came from.”
Moreover, the gymnast noted that one of the passengers in the vehicle pepper-sprayed her arm as the car sped away.

“I was so mad, but there was nothing I could do or control because they skirted off,” Lee told PopSugar. “I didn’t do anything to them, and having the reputation, it’s so hard because I didn’t want to do anything that could get me into trouble. I just let it happen.”
Lee, a Hmong American from Minnesota, was one of the breakout stars of the last summer’s Olympics in Tokyo. She was also a contestant on the 30th season of “Dancing With the Stars.”
