Olivia Wilde has signed on a deal with Sony Pictures to direct and develop a secret Marvel film project.
Wilde made her feature film directorial debut last year with “Booksmart,”. The film will be written by “Booksmart” writer Katie Silberman with Amy Pascal producing.

The“Booksmart” director is set to direct the thriller “Don’t Worry Darling,” starring Florence Pugh, Chris Pine, Shia LaBeouf, and Dakota Johnson. The movie will shoot this fall.

It is speculated that the plot will be centered on Spider-Woman, however, Sony had no comment.
Spider-Woman has been held by several Marvel Comics characters throughout the years, starting in 1970 with Jessica Drew, followed by Mary-Jane Watson, and Gwen Stacy.
The “Spider-Gwen” version has most recently appeared in the 2918 animated movie, “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” voiced by Hailee Steinfeld.
The project marks the second movie based around a female character in Sony’s universe of Marvel characters to land a director after S.J. Clarkson was tapped to direct a Madame Webb movie. '
The studio is also developing Black Cat and Silver Sable movies, giving Marvel fans a taste of persifying in the universe with its building on female-centric characters.
