Oil Companies Foresee Another Treasure for Energy

Humanity has relied heavily on fossil energy sources such as oil and gas. The depletion of that energy and its overuse has caused pollution to the planet and many environmental problems.

Interest in a renewable source of energy has returned recently, which is not new, but for some reason, it has not been relied upon and invested properly, according to CNBC Arabiya.

Geothermal energy is the most promising source of energy, as it can support all of humanity in the foreseeable future.

According to the government agency that funds research and development efforts for advanced energy technologies, 0.1% of this energy could fulfill the needs of all humanity for 2 million years.

This source of energy has been used to heat buildings since the 19th century, and to provide electricity since the 20th century.

The United States has the largest installed geothermal capacity in the world. However, it still represents only about 0.4% of the total sources used to for electric power generation compared to 60% of oil and gas, 20% of nuclear energy, and 19.06% of other renewable resources.

This is attributed to the high cost and difficulty associated with drilling geothermal wells.

"A lot of the big oil companies are going to invest in geothermal energy, because the exploration methods used to leach geothermal energy are very similar to those used to explore for oil and gas," Catherine Hickson, Vice President of Geothermal Canada said.

The 26th Climate Conference was held in Glasgow, Scotland, in an urgent need for the planet to start immediate measures to stop global warming and environmental pollution. Which it is necessary taking preventive measures, and the most important is reducing dependence on fossil energy and relying on renewable energy.
