Senior officials from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations convened in Geneva on Tuesday for the 17th Biennial General Cooperation Meeting to review and expand collaboration on regional and international issues.
The meeting, held at the U.N. Office in Geneva, is co-chaired by OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo and U.N. Assistant Secretary-General Khaled Khiari, with representatives from OIC institutions and U.N. agencies in attendance.
In a message delivered by Sengendo, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha reaffirmed the organization's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the United Nations in addressing regional crises and global challenges.
Participants are expected to discuss ways to deepen institutional coordination and enhance joint efforts in promoting peace, sustainable development, humanitarian action and other areas of mutual concern.
