The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the continued crime of collective genocide perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip, the most recent of which was the shelling of a UNRWA school sheltering thousands of displaced persons from the Nusayrat camp, with scores martyred or injured.
The OIC views these crimes as a blatant violation of provisions of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and the injunctions of the International Court of Justice. The OIC also calls for these crimes and other war crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza Strip to be investigated and for their perpetrators to be held accountable and prosecuted. These include targeting of UNRWA workers and facilities, displaced persons at UNRWA headquarters as well as health and humanitarian workers.
The OIC also called on the international community to assume its responsibilities toward ending this wanton Israeli aggression against civilians, displaced persons, hospitals, schools, homes, and places of worship. It renewed its call that humanitarian and medical aid must be delivered in a sufficient and sustainable manner to all parts of the Gaza Strip.
The OIC further called on relevant international institutions, including the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take necessary measures urgently to ensure justice and that those responsible for the violations and crimes committed by Israel, the occupying power, against the Palestinian people, are held accountable.
