Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha called for stronger partnerships among governments, financial institutions, academia and private-sector investors to build more resilient healthcare systems across OIC member states.
In remarks delivered on his behalf by Assistant Secretary-General Ahmad Sengedo at the Regional Investment Forum on the Health Sector in Nouakchott, Taha said member states have significant potential to develop regional value chains for the local production of medicines, vaccines, medical devices and digital health technologies.
The two-day forum, held under the patronage of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, seeks to boost investment and trade in the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sectors. It is organized by the Islamic Centre for Trade Development, the Islamic Development Bank and Mauritania’s Ministry of Health.
