OIC Receives Chechen Delegation, Reviews Relations with Russia

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) hosted a high-level delegation from the Chechen Republic to discuss cooperation and the longstanding relationship between the OIC and the Russian Federation, the organization said.

The delegation was led by Akhmat Ramzan Kadyrov, Minister of Physical Culture and Sport of the Chechen Republic, and was received by OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Youssef bin Mohammed Al-Dubeay. The meeting was attended by the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OIC.

During the talks, the two sides reviewed the development of relations between Russia and the OIC since the Russian Federation was granted observer status in the organization in 2005. Participants praised the current level of cooperation and highlighted the importance of continued engagement on issues of mutual interest.

The discussions also focused on strengthening dialogue and expanding cooperation between OIC institutions and partners in the Russian Federation, including the Chechen Republic.

During the meeting, Al-Dubeay received a written message from Chechen Republic President Ramzan Kadyrov addressed to OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha. The contents of the message were not disclosed.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation between the OIC and observer states, while enhancing dialogue and partnership across political, cultural and humanitarian fields.
