The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an extraordinary meeting of its Council of Foreign Ministers on Saturday to address escalating tensions following Israel’s reported recognition of "Somaliland" as an independent state.

In a statement, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha condemned the move as a "flagrant violation of international law" and a threat to regional stability. The Council reaffirmed its unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, echoing previous resolutions from a permanent representatives' meeting held earlier this month.

The session also addressed the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The Secretary-General called for a permanent ceasefire, the full withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. The meeting concluded with the adoption of two resolutions: one upholding Somali sovereignty and another condemning Israeli actions in Palestinian territories.
