OIC participates in Observing the Presidential Elections in Djibouti

The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) dispatched a mission of experts to observe the Presidential elections in the Republic of Djibouti, following an official invitation to participate in the election observation received by His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization.

​The OIC General Secretariat's observer mission, alongside election observation missions from other regional organizations, joined meetings held with the Djiboutian authorities organizing the elections. During these meetings, the mission conveyed the greetings of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, and his best wishes for the success of the electoral process. The mission also received a briefing on the electoral process.

​The mission emphasized the importance that the OIC attaches to the election observation process in Member States, as stipulated in the relevant provisions of the OIC Charter, the resolutions of the Islamic Summit, and the decisions of the Council of Foreign Ministers.

​The OIC mission observed the electoral process in three phases: pre-poll preparations, polling day, and vote counting. The voting took place in a peaceful and orderly manner, in a calm and transparent atmosphere.
