The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated in a ceremony marking the transfer of leadership at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in Dhaka, underscoring the institution’s role in advancing higher education, science, and technology across the Muslim world.
Representing OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher, Assistant Secretary-General for Science and Technology, attended the event, which saw Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam formally hand over the position of Vice-Chancellor to Professor Dr. Md. Mamun Bin Ibne Reaz.
The ceremony was attended by Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Shama Obaed Islam, along with university officials, academics, and representatives of the OIC.
During the event, Khokher conveyed the congratulations of the OIC Secretary-General, who also serves as Chancellor of the university, to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor. He wished him success in continuing the institution’s progress and strengthening its reputation for academic excellence and innovation.
The Assistant Secretary-General highlighted the university’s contribution to capacity-building and scientific advancement among OIC member states, emphasizing the importance of higher education in promoting sustainable development and technological growth.
