The Organization of Islamic Cooperation took part in the opening ceremony of the Konya OIC Youth Capital International Program 2026, hosted by Türkiye in cooperation with the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum in the central Turkish city of Konya.
The event was attended by senior Turkish officials, including Osman Aşkın Bak, the mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality, ministers responsible for youth affairs from several OIC member states, and youth delegates from across the Muslim world.
In remarks delivered on behalf of OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, Dr. Boubakari Maiga, head of the Youth and Sports Department at the OIC General Secretariat, said hosting the program reflects Türkiye’s continued commitment to youth empowerment and its support for OIC initiatives.
He also praised the role of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in advancing opportunities for young people throughout the Islamic world.
On the sidelines of the event, Maiga held meetings with ministers and delegation heads from several OIC member states, including Bak, to discuss strengthening cooperation and expanding joint initiatives aimed at supporting youth development across Muslim countries.
