OIC Participates in European Union Senior Officials Meeting on Afghanistan

‏At the invitation of the European Union, the Special Envoy of the OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha to Afghanistan, Ambassador Tarig Ali Bakhit, participated in the Senior Officials Meetings on Afghanistan, held on 16–17 June 2025 at the EU headquarters in Brussels

‏During the meeting, Ambassador Tarig delivered several interventions in which he reaffirmed the Organization’s commitment to constructive dialogue with the de facto authorities in Afghanistan, in line with relevant resolutions.

 He also highlighted the Organization’s humanitarian support, showcasing its ongoing efforts in humanitarian and development work through the Afghanistan Trust Fund at the Islamic Development Bank, as well as the contributions of the Islamic Organization for Food Security and the humanitarian activities of the Organization’s office in Kabul.

‏It is worth noting that Ambassador Tarig held meetings with several EU officials, including Mr. Niklas Kvarnstrom, Director General for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service, along with a number of participants from United Nations agencies.
