At the kind invitation of the International Council for the Arabic Language, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, represented by the Department of Cultural Affairs, participated in the 11th International Conference on the Arabic Language, held from October 22 to 24, 2025, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
This participation comes within the framework of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the General Secretariat and the International Council for the Arabic Language on May 29, 2024, with the aim of continuing efforts to support the presence of the Arabic language in international fora and enhance its cultural and civilizational influence globally.
The conference witnessed broad participation from Member States, regional and international organizations, and civil society organizations concerned with the Arabic language. The conference also featured the presentation of the Mohammed bin Rashid Arabic Language Award, and featured a review of hundreds of scientific and field research works and studies in various disciplines. In addition, innovative initiatives were presented to promote the teaching and dissemination of the Arabic language through modern means.
The General Secretariat delegation was headed by the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian, Cultural, and Social Affairs, Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhit, who delivered the Secretary-General’s address during the opening session, which was attended by representatives of several regional and international organizations. Dr. Al-Hussein Ghazawi and Dr. Rami Mohammed Inshasi also participated in several scientific sessions, where they reviewed the efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in serving the Arabic language as part of international efforts in this field.
On the sidelines of the conference, the General Secretariat delegation held bilateral meetings with representatives of organizations and scientific bodies with the aim of strengthening partnerships and joint cooperation, particularly in the field of disseminating and teaching the Arabic language.
The General Secretariat’s participation in this international forum comes within the framework of its ongoing commitment to supporting the presence, spread, and empowerment of the Arabic language as the language of the Holy Qur’an, and in accordance with the relevant ministerial resolutions in this regard, including Resolution No. 13/51C issued by the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States (Istanbul - 2025) on the celebration of World Arabic Language Day.
