The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) marked the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on Sunday, in a ceremony held at its headquarters in Jeddah with the participation of representatives from member states.
The OIC General Secretariat reaffirmed its support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Officials emphasized that the annual commemoration serves as a reminder of the international community’s responsibility to help end decades of suffering and ensure protection for civilians.
The event highlighted the urgent need to advance peace efforts, secure humanitarian access to affected areas, and uphold international law. The OIC called on global actors to intensify diplomatic efforts to achieve a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian cause.
