The Organization of Islamic Cooperation reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global development through youth empowerment during the 2026 ECOSOC Youth Forum held at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The OIC delegation, led by Ambassador Hameed Opeloyeru, took part in high-level discussions under the forum’s theme, “Innovate, Unite and Transform.” Officials emphasized the importance of empowering young people to drive sustainable development and strengthen international cooperation.
A key highlight of the forum was a strategic meeting between the OIC’s Youth and Sports Department and the U.N. Youth Office, where participants discussed aligning institutional efforts and promoting sports as a tool for social inclusion and development.
The organization said expanding partnerships will help equip youth with the skills needed to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
