The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the storming of the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violation of its sanctity by hundreds of extremist settlers, including Itamar Ben-Gvir, the extremist minister in the Israeli occupation government, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.
The OIC also denounced the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Al-Khalil, considering these acts an extension of Israel’s — the occupying power’s — repeated violations of the sanctity of holy sites and freedom of worship, as well as a flagrant breach of the Geneva Conventions and relevant United Nations resolutions.
The OIC reaffirmed that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunums, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that Israel, the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the city of Al-Quds and its holy sites.
The Organization called on the international community to take the necessary measures to preserve the historical and legal status of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied city of Al-Quds.
