OIC Congratulates Palestinian Media After WAFA Wins Professional Excellence Award

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) congratulated Palestinian media following the recognition of Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) with the first Professional Media Excellence Award presented by the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA).

In a statement issued Tuesday, Samir Bakr Diab, acting secretary-general of the OIC and assistant secretary-general for Palestine and Al-Quds affairs, extended congratulations to Ahmad Assaf, general supervisor of official Palestinian media, and the Palestinian media community on the achievement.

Diab said the award reflects WAFA’s leading role in conveying facts and highlighting the Palestinian cause, noting that it demonstrates the professionalism of Palestinian media despite the challenges posed by the ongoing occupation.

He added that the recognition also reaffirms the OIC’s long-standing support — including that of its institutions and the Union of OIC News Agencies — for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights.
