OIC Condemns Nauru's Decision to Open Embassy in Occupied Jerusalem

 The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned Nauru's decision to open an embassy to the Israeli authorities in occupied Jerusalem, calling the move a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.

In a statement, the OIC General Secretariat said the decision undermines international efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution. It reiterated that Jerusalem's legal status cannot be altered through unilateral actions.

The organization cited U.N. Security Council Resolutions 476 and 478, which declare measures intended to change the character, legal status, or demographic composition of Jerusalem "null and void" and call on states not to establish diplomatic missions in the city.

The OIC urged Nauru to reverse its decision, comply with its obligations under the U.N. Charter and relevant international resolutions, and support efforts to end the Israeli occupation and achieve a comprehensive peace in line with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
