The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the demolition of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) facilities in East Jerusalem by Israeli forces, calling it a "flagrant violation" of international law.
In a statement issued from its headquarters in Jeddah, the 57-member bloc described the move as a dangerous escalation. The OIC argued the demolition aligns with illegal attempts to "liquidate" the Palestinian refugee issue by undermining UNRWA’s presence and mandate.
The organization further stated that targeting the agency violates the UN Charter, the 1946 Convention on UN Privileges and Immunities, and recent advisory opinions from the International Court of Justice.
The OIC urged the international community, specifically the UN Security Council, to take "necessary measures" to protect the agency’s staff and facilities, demanding that Israel respect its obligations under international law.
