OIC Condemns Escalating Violence Against Palestinians, Calls for International Accountability

 The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Friday condemned what it described as an escalation of violence by Israeli forces and settlers against Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories, calling for international accountability and greater protection for Palestinians.

In a statement, the OIC cited recent incidents in the West Bank, including the towns of Tell in the Nablus governorate and Deir Jarir in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, as well as ongoing hostilities in the Gaza Strip, saying the violence had resulted in numerous casualties.

The organization warned that continued attacks and settlement expansion violate international humanitarian law and undermine regional stability.

The OIC urged the U.N. Security Council, international courts and the wider international community to fulfill their responsibilities by ensuring protection for Palestinian civilians and holding those responsible for alleged violations accountable under international law. It also called on states to intensify efforts to oppose settlement expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories.
