The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation condemned attacks and acts of vandalism targeting the headquarters of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Damascus and the residence of its head of mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
In a statement issued Sunday, the organization denounced the incident as a violation of diplomatic norms and an affront to the national symbols of the United Arab Emirates. The General Secretariat stressed the importance of protecting diplomatic missions and their personnel in line with international law.
The OIC called on relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of diplomatic premises and staff, emphasizing compliance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees the protection and inviolability of diplomatic missions worldwide.
