Preparations are officially underway for the upcoming Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), scheduled to take place in Baghdad, Iraq, on April 11–12, 2026.
The process began with the launch of the 49th session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs, which opened Tuesday at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah. The session is tasked with reviewing and formulating key draft resolutions related to economic cooperation, cultural affairs, and science and technology among OIC member states.
Officials said the commission’s recommendations will be submitted to the Council of Foreign Ministers for approval during the Baghdad meeting.
The upcoming session in the Iraqi capital is expected to focus on strengthening joint Islamic action and addressing shared development challenges, reflecting Iraq’s growing role in hosting major multilateral events within the OIC framework.
