Ministry of Health and Population Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said on Sunday that there is a significant decline in the number of COVID-19 infections.
In televised remarks, Abdel Ghaffar added that 30 million citizens are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 40 million received their first dose.
Moreover, the spokesman added that Egypt’s government set a goal of vaccinating 70% of the population by the second half of 2022.
It is worth mentioning that, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported on Sunday, 1093 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 490969.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 24,197 nationwide after the ministry announced 25 deaths.
About 1321 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 421215.
