An official reception ceremony for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is set to take place today, Friday, at the Royal Palace in Copenhagen, Denmark's capital.
During his visit to Denmark, which began on Thursday, President El-Sisi is scheduled to meet with the Danish monarch, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of the Danish Parliament.
The visit also includes participation in several economic events and meetings, culminating in the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Egypt and Denmark, along with multiple Memorandums of Understanding across diverse areas of cooperation.
Egypt's Ambassador to Denmark, Karim Sherif, highlighted that President El-Sisi's visit is one of the highest-level diplomatic exchanges hosted by Denmark. He emphasized the comprehensive preparations undertaken to reflect Egypt’s prominent position on both regional and international levels.
The ambassador noted that a preparatory visit was made by Denmark’s Foreign Minister to Cairo in September 2024. During this visit, two main pillars of the bilateral relationship were announced: strategic partnership, with Egypt recognized as a key partner for Denmark in the Middle East and Africa, aligning with Denmark’s Africa-focused policies announced earlier this year.
Danish media have described President El-Sisi’s visit to Copenhagen as historic, marking the first official visit by an Egyptian President to Denmark.
Later today, Denmark’s King is set to host a state dinner in honor of President El-Sisi to celebrate this milestone visit.
This visit to Denmark is part of President El-Sisi’s European tour, which also includes stops in Norway and Ireland.
