"Official Competition" First Teaser Revealed

The Mediapro Studio revealed Thursday the teaser for Spanish stars Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas’ new comedy movie “Official Competition".

The movie is directed by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, who co-written the movie alongside Andrés Duprat. It is produced by Mediapro head Jaume Roures, RTVE, TV3, and Orange España.

“Official Competition" centers around a billionaire businessman who decides to make a movie that leaves his mark on history with the help of famed filmmaker Lola Cuevas (Cruz), Hollywood heartthrob Félix Rivero (Banderas), and radical theater thespian Iván Torres (Oscar Martínez).

Rivero and Torres' big egos became a hindrance to the project, leading Lola to contrive a series of increasingly imaginative challenges to bang some sense of some humility into them.

Banderas, Cruz, and Martínez are serving as the executive producers along with Laura Fernández Espeso, Javier Mendez, Javier Pons at The Mediapro Studio.

Buena Vista International will handle theatrical distribution in Spain, while Star Distribution will handle the distribution in Latin America.

The movie is a frontrunner for Venice selection next Monday.
