Egyptian Scientist Obtains Title of Honorary Professor from GGIEMR

Founding Director of the Center for Photonics and Smart Materials (CPSM) at Zewail City Professor Salah Obayya has been awarded the title of Honorary Professor from George Green Institute for Electromagnetics Research (GGIEMR), UK, according to the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.

ASRT President Mahmoud Sakr congratulated Obbaya for the prestigious title, pointing out that choosing distinguished Egyptian scientists in international institutions to assume pioneering positions shows their leading role inside Egypt and abroad.

The title was awarded to professor Obbaya in recognition of his contributions and researches on photonics and his leading roles in Egyptian and UK universities.

The Egyptian professor published more than 500 researches in publications, scientific journals, and international conferences as well as three books.

Obayya has been selected to be an associate editor-in-chief of the IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, and a guest editor-in-chief of the Journal of Optical and Quantum Electronics. He also served on the technical committee of many photonics conferences.

Obayya was granted, by the Egyptian government, the Incentive State Award for Engineering Sciences and the State Award of Excellence for Engineering Science. He is also the recipient of the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation Award for Arab Researchers in engineering sciences in 2013.
