The founder of Nvidia, which makes chips for almost everything in our lives, lost $10 billion in a single day.
The fortune of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang fell by about 10% on Tuesday, the biggest drop since the Bloomberg Billionaires Index began tracking his wealth in 2016.
This came after Nvidia's stock plunged by 9.5%, as the company lost about $280 billion in market value on US stock exchanges in a single trading session yesterday, after the company was summoned to appear in court in an investigation into antitrust issues.
Despite all the declines, Huang's fortune is still $95 billion so far.
Bloomberg ranks Huang as the 18th richest person in the world, and his fortune has increased by about $50 billion since the beginning of 2024 thanks to the record rise in Nvidia shares this year, affected by what is known as the "artificial intelligence mania" on Wall Street.
