Astronomical calculations prepared by Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics have confirmed that Ramadan this year will last 29 days, with the final day falling on Thursday, March 19 (29 Ramadan).
According to the institute, the last day of the holy month will record the longest fasting duration, reaching 13 hours and 52 minutes.
Based on the official Ramadan calendar issued by the institute, Friday, March 20, 2026, will mark the first day of Eid Al-Fitr. The Eid prayer in Cairo is scheduled for 6:24 AM.
Meanwhile, Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah announced that it sighted the crescent moon of Ramadan 1447 AH after sunset on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 (29 Sha’ban 1447 AH), through its religious and scientific committees across the country.
Dar Al-Ifta officially declared Thursday, February 19, 2026, as the first day of Ramadan 1447 AH.
