The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) denied the presence of a strong and destructive earthquake in Cairo this morning, the institute mentioned in a statement released on Wednesday.

The statement explained that the horrible sound heard and the shaking felt by the citizens were due to the construction and digging works for executing one of the express train projects; therefore, there was some sort of air shock that caused this sound.

It added that the ground shake was recorded by the institute’s observers and was below 2 magnitudes. It was also near Saqqara.
