November 1 Declared Public Holiday to Coincide with GEM Opening

Counsellor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesperson for the Cabinet, announced that it was decided that the opening day, November 1, will be designated as a public holiday.

The decision was made after a meeting held today by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy, and Mohamed Al-Saadi, Board Member of United Media Services and general supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum opening ceremony.

The day will be a paid holiday for employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies.

Counsellor Al-Homsani added that the holiday decision was made under the President’s directives to facilitate the movement and coordination of foreign delegations participating in the major celebration marking the Grand Egyptian Museum’s inauguration. 

The event is expected to draw a large number of kings, presidents, senior officials, and prominent figures from around the world.
