Norwegian airline Norwegian Air temporarily replaced its Instagram profile logo with that of British Airways after losing a lighthearted social media wager tied to England's victory over Norway in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals.

The bet, agreed between the two airlines ahead of the match, stipulated that the carrier representing the losing nation would change its Instagram profile picture to the winning airline's logo for 24 hours.

Following England's 2-1 win over Norway, Norwegian Air honored the agreement by adopting the British Airways logo and posting a playful message acknowledging the outcome.

"Although the tournament has come to an end for us, this friendly wager will live forever in our hearts," the airline wrote beneath its temporary profile image.

The carrier also congratulated both England and British Airways, adding: "We wish England and British Airways the very best in the semi-finals and sincerely hope they can bring the trophy home."

The social media exchange quickly drew attention from aviation and football fans, highlighting how brands are increasingly using sporting events to engage audiences through lighthearted digital marketing campaigns.

England will face defending champions Argentina in the World Cup semi-finals in Atlanta on Wednesday as they seek a place in the tournament's final.
