The Norwegian Royal Palace announced on Wednesday that King Harald V has been admitted to a hospital in Tenerife, Spain, after suffering from an infection and dehydration while on a private trip.
In an official statement, the Royal House of Norway confirmed that the 89-year-old monarch’s condition is “satisfactory under the circumstances.”
King Harald was hospitalized during his stay on the Spanish island of Tenerife, where he had been spending a vacation.
This is not the first time the Norwegian monarch has been hospitalized while traveling. In 2024, he was admitted to a clinic in Malaysia, where he was fitted with a temporary pacemaker.
King Harald V, who recently celebrated his 89th birthday, is currently the oldest reigning monarch in Europe.
Further updates on his condition are expected from the Royal Palace as medical evaluations continue.
