Norway’s Foreign Minister Anneken Huitveldt announced that her country is about to provide a package worth NOK 220 million (about $22 million) to enhance food security and provide basic services in Afghanistan.

On Sunday, the Afghan news channel, "Tolo News" reported that Norway is scheduled to hand over the money to the United Nations and the World Bank.

On her part, the Norwegian foreign minister said in a statement that Norway will provide NOK 220 million to the UN and the World Bank to support their efforts to maintain basic services and enable people in Afghanistan to provide for themselves.

Norway has also increased its support for organizations working to promote human rights and women's participation in Afghan society, according to Huitveldt.

She added that none of the funding from her country will go to the Taliban regime.

It is worth noting that severe economic challenges have forced many children in Afghanistan to work.

The EU announced earlier a package of aid to Afghanistan worth 75 million euros.
