Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday that a coalition of international donors has approved an emergency funding package to support the Palestinian Authority amid a deepening financial crisis.
The initiative, titled the International Emergency Coalition for Funding the Palestinian Authority, brings together key contributors including Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United Kingdom, Japan, and France.
Although the total value of the package has not yet been disclosed, Norway confirmed it will contribute 4 million US dollars. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry described the move as a direct response to what it called an unprecedented financial emergency facing the Palestinian Authority.
According to the ministry, the coalition’s immediate goal is to stabilize the Palestinian Authority’s finances, ensure its capacity to govern, maintain essential public services, and safeguard security.
Participating countries also urged Israel to release withheld revenues that, they said, rightfully belong to the Palestinian Authority.
The announcement comes at a critical moment, as the Palestinian Authority struggles with mounting fiscal pressures that risk undermining its governance and the delivery of basic services in the occupied territories.
