North Sinai Governor Khaled Megawer announced that a comprehensive and integrated medical plan is in place to provide necessary services to injured and ill Palestinians entering Egypt through the Rafah border crossing.
Megawer said the Rafah crossing has been open since February 2, noting that Egypt has maintained extensive preparations to ensure the safe passage of Palestinian patients and their companions.
In televised statements, the governor explained that the crossing is managed through a crisis operations room that includes representatives from all relevant ministries and security agencies. The coordination mechanism enables close monitoring of each case from arrival at the crossing to transfer to designated hospitals.
He outlined that the medical plan operates through three main tracks: treatment within North Sinai, transfer to nearby governorates, and referral to hospitals in Cairo. Medical points have been established inside the crossing, and psychological support teams are available to assist children and patients.
Megawer added that many Palestinians who completed their treatment in Egypt have safely returned to the Gaza Strip. He emphasized that all cases are processed according to pre-approved lists and scheduled rosters to facilitate smooth procedures.
The governor also highlighted the pivotal role played by the Egyptian Red Crescent, which provides medical transportation and psychological support to patients and their companions, ensuring the integration and continuity of services at the crossing.
He affirmed that Egypt remains committed to delivering humanitarian and medical assistance in a structured and coordinated manner.
