North Korea threatened on Friday to launch a strong and rapid strike against US strategic assets deployed on the Korean Peninsula.
South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that Pyongyang denounced Washington's deployment of strategic nuclear assets, describing it as an "unconvincing" military provocation, warning that the strategic assets had entered very dangerous waters.
Pyongyang confirmed that the strongest and fastest first strike against North Korea will be directed at the means of extended deterrence that the United States uses to intimidate its followers and the bases on the Korean Peninsula and its adjacent areas.
North Korea explained that the nuclear doctrine adopted by the country last year allows it to take the necessary measures, such as the preventive use of nuclear weapons, in the event that it believes that a nuclear attack against it is imminent.
Last month, North Korea amended the constitution to enshrine a policy of strengthening its nuclear power, as it seeks to significantly increase its nuclear arsenal.
