The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that there are currently no recorded cases of Hantavirus in Egypt, stressing that the situation remains stable and under continuous monitoring.
Health ministry spokesperson Dr. Hosam Abdel-Ghaffar said the virus does not represent a pandemic threat like COVID-19, explaining that its transmission pattern is different.
He noted that Hantavirus is mainly spread from rodents to humans through inhaling contaminated dust or contact with infected droppings, and human-to-human transmission is extremely rare.
The ministry added that it is closely monitoring the epidemiological situation in coordination with the World Health Organization, while maintaining surveillance across airports, seaports, and land crossings to ensure early detection of any suspected cases.
Officials also urged the public to rely on official sources of information and avoid spreading rumors, emphasizing that awareness and preventive measures remain the first line of defense for public health.
