NMEC Participates in Intermuseum 2024 in Moscow

Representing Dr Ahmed Ghoneim, the CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), Dr. Maissara Abdallah , the Deputy CEO for Archaeological Affairs, participated in the international festival "Intermuseum 2024" held in Moscow, Russia, under the theme "Museums are People."

Invited by the Russian Ministry of Culture, the festival featured a series of lectures and discussion sessions with extensive participation from museums around the world and museum specialists.

The event facilitated the exchange of expertise among participants.

Abdallah took part in a panel discussion titled "The Importance of Cultural Heritage and Its Role in Capital Development," which was inaugurated by Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova.

During the session, Abdallah presented the history of the NMEC, highlighting its role as a comprehensive cultural and scientific beacon that contributes to understanding Egyptian civilization, protecting Egyptian heritage, and providing essential cultural services and activities to visitors.

The discussion included 250 experts and specialists from leading cultural and museum institutions worldwide, who engaged in dialogue about modern museum practices.

On the sidelines of the festival, Abdallah held several professional meetings to explore ways to enhance cooperation between Russian museums and the NMEC.

He also delivered a lecture at the National Museum in Moscow, discussing the economic and cultural impact of the NMEC and its pioneering role in community development.

The lecture attracted a large audience of museum enthusiasts and cultural heritage management professionals in Russia.

Prominent attendees of the festival included Mikhail Shvydkoy, the Special Representative of the Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation; Elena Kharlamova, Head of the Department of Museums and External Relations at the Ministry of Culture; Sergei Novikov, Head of the Presidential Directorate for Public Projects; Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage Museum and President of the Russian Museums Union; Alexey Levykin, Director of the State Historical Museum; and Semyon Mikhailovsky, President of the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts.
