An art exhibition titled “Treasures through Popular Art between Egypt and Peru” was inaugurated by Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC), and Ambassador Jose Betancourt, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru in Cairo.
The exhibition took place in the Museum’s Egyptian Textile Hall and was attended by various dignitaries including visual artist Hoda Lotfy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pettah Ceramic School, foreign ambassadors, the Peruvian community in Egypt, and art enthusiasts.
Ghoneim mentioned that organizing such activities and events is part of the museum's ongoing efforts to collaborate with embassies and diplomatic bodies in Egypt and to promote cultural and artistic exchange between Egyptians and other peoples.
The exhibition showcased decorative and ceramic folk art by artists and craftsmen from Egypt and Peru, highlighting the significance of cultural and knowledge cooperation between the two nations.
Ambassador Jose Betancourt expressed his satisfaction at hosting the exhibition, emphasizing its role in providing Egyptians with insights into the heritage of Peru and fostering knowledge and communication between the two countries, despite their geographical distance, due to their shared ancient history and rich traditions.
He also commended the cooperation between the Embassy of the Republic of Peru and the NMEC, highlighting the importance of this partnership.
