1st Edition of “Bayt al-Arab” Fair Inaugurated Today

Under the patronage of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States H.E. Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Minister of Social Solidarity Nivine El-Kabbag ingurgitated the first Arab Productive Families Fair “Bayt al-Arab”, on Thursday 5 January at the Qubba Presidential Palace in Cairo.

The Fair, which runs through to 11 January, is organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity in cooperation with the Arab League. It is spread over an area of 4000 meters, and that entry will be free of charge daily from 10 am to 10 pm.

With the participation of 12 Arab States, the Fair is designed to boost the sector of productive families, as well as Arab handicrafts and heritage industries.

The first edition of the Bayt al-Arab Fair will also feature Jordan as the guest of honour; Jordan is the head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs. Eight Ministers of Social Affairs of Arab countries participated in the opening.

In her address, Kabbag, said that the Fair will act as a good prospect for the exchange of experiences between Arab countries in the field, to boost the exhibitors’ competitiveness in global markets.

Some 150 productive families will participate in the Fair, Kabbag said; 70 families from Egypt and 80 families from the other participating Arab States.

The Fair will feature activities including seminars and interactive workshops for children, and folkloric performances.

In the same connection, the minister said that the products of the Egyptian productive families are part and parcel of Egyptian heritage and industry. She said that there are more than 400 centres for productive families centres in Egypt, with some 14,000 productive families as members.

Kabbag also conveyed the sincere greetings of Egypt's first lady Mrs. Intisar El Sisi, to the attendees and her wishes for every success for the work of this current edition.

She explained that the Ministry organized this Fair to help low-income families increase their income. The project aims to empower these families and transform them from dependent families into productive families that contribute to economic, and social development, aligned with the SDGs and Egypt's Vision 2030.
